Washington, USA - The NASA and the US Air Force provide their aircraft
(WAPA) - Against the fires which for days have been devastating Southern California now arrive, after the helicopters and the airplanes, (see in regard to this AVIONEWS) also the UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle). The aeronautics and space agency Nasa and the US Air Force have furnished their unmanned aircraft in order to supply the firefighters with pictures of the fires even in presence of smoke and strong heat.
The NASA makes use of their Ikhana UAV, version of the Predator B realized by the General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. They leave from the Dryden Flight Research Center at Edwards Air Force Base, in California, where the smoke of the fires is already in sight. The Air Force uses instead Global Hawk of the Northrop Grumman company, which take off from the base of Beale, near Sacramento.
The fires in California have already forced about one million people to flee the own houses; in the county of San Diego, among other is situated also the famous stars' residence, Malibu. (Avionews)
