Tempelhof closes down
Berlin, Germany - "A piece of history" disappears
(WAPA) - Tomorrow Tempelhof airport in Berlin will close down. Such name will probably remind experts some of the most important moments that marked aviation history. In 1909, the first German engine-powered airplane took off there. With a terminal 1.2 Km long, from 1936 to 1941 it was one of the biggest building in the world. "A piece of history" disappears someone says.
The airport closure was ordered due to the difficult financial conditions of an airport, recording in 2007 losses for 10 million Euros and a drop in passengers volume. (Avionews)
