New missile program for American DARPA
Washington, USA - Among the advanced research projects to be opened in 2010
(WAPA) - A new long-range missile program capable to strike down missiles, aircraft and air defences is the new project being studied by the American DARPA (Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency). To carry it on the agency asked for a $3.5 billion budget for fiscal year 2010. The system will be dubbed "T3" (Triple Target Terminator).
These innovative missiles will be installed on fighters, bombers and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). They will be able to hit targets both air-to-air and air-to-surface. In this way for each mission it will be possible to engage a wider range of objectives.
Besides the T3 DARPA is always planning to start other new programs for 2010: autonomous air refuelling between UAVs; a "Transformer" vehicle (TX); a road-able aircraft with electric hybrid propulsion; a submersible aircraft.
Another fascinating program is the new telepathic communication system called "Silent Talk". It is capable to recognize brain signals for each specific word. "The brain - DARPA explains - generates word-specific signals prior to sending electrical impulses to the vocal chords". Recognizing these signals in an electroencephalogram and decoding them it would be possible to obtain "Silent" communications. Initially the agency will work on 100 words frequently used on the field. (Avionews)
