First "Chinese" A-320 aircraft ready for delivery
Beijing, China - To Dragon Aviation Leasing
(WAPA) - At about one month from its maiden flight (see AVIONEWS) the first Airbus A-320 assembled in China at the French manufacturer's facilities in Tianjin, is ready to be delivered to Dragon Aviation Leasing company, that will then lease it to Sichuan Airlines for its regional routes. The delivery is scheduled in July.
Tianjin is the first production plant installed by Airbus out of Europe, and is supposed to produce 10 aircraft by the end of 2009. The aim of the company is to increase the production rate up to four planes per month by the year 2011, to strongly penetrate the Chinese market which is understood to be in great expansion.
These facilities are property of Airbus Tianjin, joint-venture of which Airbus controls 51%. The remaining 49% belongs to a local consortium of AVIC (China Aviation Industry) and Tianjin Free Trade Zone. (Avionews)
