Italian transport minister, Matteoli, delays strikes scheduled for June 26

Rome, Italy - Another deferral for unions' protests

(WAPA) - The Italian minister of transports and infrastructures, Altero Matteoli, decided to delay the strikes in air transport scheduled for next Friday, June 26.

In particular, the FILT-CGIL union had announced a 24-hour interruption in the services of Meridiana's flight assistants; SDL had instead called for a 24-hour protest of Alitalia-CAI's personnel; finally, still SDL had announced a 4 hour strike of Meridiana's flight assistants.

"The decision -the ministry states in a note- is necessary and urgent in order to avoid a serious and irreparable prejudice on the right of free circulation guaranteed by our Constitution".

On June 12 the unions of airline workers already issued a press-release protesting against the continuous delays of their announced protests. (Avionews)
