Czech Government to block CSA's privatisation

Prague, Czech Republic - The State will carry on to the "Agonizing" reorganization

(WAPA) - Jan Fischer, the Czech Prime Minister, yesterday stated during a press conference that: "The Government has decided that it will no longer sell CSA (Czech Airlines) as requested by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Eduard Janota".

To compete in the tender for the privatisation of the national airline of the Czech Republic, estimated as being 91.5% owned by the State, there were: Air France-KLM alliance, which then retreated, and Unimex Travel Service, which bid EUR 40 million for CSA. The current condition of the carrier is so disastrous that in 2009 it is overseeing a loss of about EUR 116 million (about 71 million deficits in just the first term of the year).

The Government in Prague has the intention and determination to ensure a "Harshly" restructuring of CSA, which includes primarily the dismissal of at least 1,000 people, mostly between the pilots and flight attendants.
In order to understand the magnitude of the crisis, CSA, at the end of 2008, had a total of 4662 employees, and as from today, cuts the number of staff who do not alight here.
