Italy: flights cancelled and delayed in Turin due to Aviapartner employees' strike
Turin, Italy - Also blocked Juventus FC's airplane
(WAPA) - Also the airplane that was due to carry Juventus FC footballers to Tel Aviv, for the Champions League match against Maccabi Haifa, has been blocked today by a strike carried out by employees of Aviapartner, a company managing handling services at Turin-Caselle airport, in Italy.
The protest was caused by the company's decision to lay off 24 workers. Besides Juventus FC's flight, which took off later with a 2-hour delay, the sudden strike caused several cancellations and delays. Aviapartner works for Lufthansa and Air France, while ground services for other airlines are managed directly by SAGAT, Turin airport's operator.
"Due to a sudden strike of handling operations personnel at Turin-Caselle airport -SAGAT stated in a note- caused by the decision of Aviapartner to lay off 24 employees, take off and landing operations on the airport will suffer for delays and cancellations. For further information passengers should contact directly their airlines". (Avionews)
