UK to back the Gripen in the tender for the new Brazilian fighters
London, UK - 20% of this aircraft's technology is British
(WAPA) - The UK decided to put all of its weight in backing the Saab JAS-39 Gripen NG in the tender for the new Brazilian Air Force fighter jets, for which a decision is waited within this month.
According to the British, 20% of this aircraft's components would be English-made, in particular the radar (see AVIONEWS), and with the future integrations this share is likely to grow.
This tender lived a phase of new vivacity after the end of this summer, when all seemed decided in advantage of the French Dassault Rafale. Instead, besides the Gripen, also the Russian Sukhoi Su-35 and the US Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet are still competing in the race (see AVIONEWS).
This deal is one of the most important tenders currently underway worldwide and it interests the industrial interests of entire nations. (Avionews)
