Italian SEA: the newness in Winter season 2009-2010 at Malpensa

Milan, Italy - Numerous new airlines have chosen the Lombard airport

(WAPA) - "Many newness for Winter season 2009 in Malpensa. Numerous new airlines have chosen the Lombard airport or those already present that have decided to increase own frequencies.

Among the new ones, the flag's carrier Sri Lankan Airlines will link directly Malpensa and Colombo with two weekly links from December. Other four European carriers have chosen Malpensa for Winter: the Swiss Baboo has just inaugurated a service of 12 connections per week to Geneva and Marseille, on which also Twin Jet has just increased the offer with 15 weekly flights.

The Lithuanian Star 1 Airlines will begin two services per week to Vilnius, the capital, starting from November 21.

Albanian Airlines, after years of absence, has decided to return to fly from Malpensa with three weekly services on Tirane, from next November 15.

Air Dolomiti has started two new daily links to Salerno and Perugia.

Tunis Air, besides to increase the weekly frequencies from to two to five on Tunis, has inaugurated the route to Tozeur with two weekly flights.

In Mediterranean area, Greece will be easier reachable from Milan thanks to a new connection served by Greek Aegean Airlines to Salonika and, also, the newborn Olympic Air that adds the offer on Hellenic capital city with ten weekly flights.

Besides to these newness in terms of new airlines and routes, the offer in general in Winter season grows on Malpensa: in East added the connections by Saudi Arabia to Jeddah and Riyadh (from next January), by Azerbaijan Airlines to Baku and by Royal Jordanian to Amman; in the North Africa, to already above mentioned Tunis Air, are added Egypt Air and Jet4you to Cairo, Royal Air Maroc to Casablanca. For East Europe the Belorussian Belavia increases the flights to Minsk, Air Moldova to Chisinau and by Rossiya to Saint Petersburg.

The capacity raises also on the rest of Europe thanks to the offer's increasing by easyJet that, with the new Season, brings to 16 the aircraft based at Terminal 2 in Malpensa, expanding the flights on Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Madrid, Catania, Lamezia Terme and Rome.

Lufthansa Italia confirms the offer on ten domestic and European destinations with new flexible hours, in particular for that concerning the links with Rome-Fiumicino.

Then the positive growth cargo trend continues with the entry by two new all-cargo carriers from the first days of November: Saudi Arabian Cargo with a new biweekly service on Jeddah and Riyadh and Asiana with another semi-weekly flight on Seoul. The Cargolux's Italian subsidiary, Cargolux Italia, anticipates to add, according to the very good results obtained in Malpensa, extra links to Far East (Hong Kong, Osaka).

Air China Cargo, landed last September 23 at Malpensa, confirms the schedule of three connections per week to Shanghai and Beijing.

To all these newness in terms of airlines and destinations, the offer's increases are added for services already existing as Nippon Cargo, that on Tokyo passes to five weekly flights and Turkish Airlines that on Istanbul adds to three weekly frequencies". (Avionews)
