Iraqi Airways to resume flights to Paris

Baghdad, Iraq - The agreement might be reached in mid-November

(WAPA) - Iraqi Airways, national airline of Iraq, is going to resume its flights from Baghdad to Paris. The announcement for this historical reopening of the route after 20 years has been given yesterday by the government of the middle-eastern country, explaining that the reason for this decision was the increasing demand coming from investors and the lower violence levels in the last 18 months.

The agreement between the Iraqi carrier and France might be signed already in the next days, while many other airlines are planning the opening of routes towards the country, despite dangers have not yet totally disappeared.

Iraqi air transport is living a recovery phase: in recent years not only links between Baghdad and other middle-eastern destinations have been intensified, but carriers have also started to open routes towards Europe, such as the one recently launched to Stockholm. Furthermore, Iraqi Airways would be planning to open a direct link to Germany. (Avionews)
