Italian ENAC: exercise in Palermo airport on the night between 12 and 13 November

(WAPA) - "The ENAC (Italian civil aviation Authority) unveiled that during the night between 12 and 13 November, at the 'Falcone e Borsellino' airport in Palermo, an exercise, named 'Airex 09', will take place in order to verify the accomplishment of the procedures of the emergency airport plan for assistance and rescue to the emergency and involved in crashes aircraft.
The exercise, co-ordinated by the ENAC management in Palermo airport, will organise a simulation of an aircraft accident of the type A-319 during take-off from runway 25, and will unwound on total scale, involving all the entities and societies, both at the airport or outside, and who have a specific role in the airport emergency plan.
With the aim to make the exercise more realistic, and therefore more effective, the airport will be closed to air traffic from 00:01am to 03:00am on 13 November - when there are no arrivals and departures of commercial flights - and an airplane made available by Wind Jet carrier will be used, on board of which there will be on board as passengers' some of whom were provided by participating companies societies".
