Saponaro reports the Alitalia agreement with Air France Klm Cargo

Milan, Italy - According to the regional consultant of Lombardy, the agreement will bring a hundred job losses

(WAPA) - The regional consultant of the Verdi in Regional Council of Lombardy denounces the agreement which will be taking place between Air France-Klm Cargo and Alitalia as from coming November 16. On the basis of this agreement the French-Dutch society will be a general agent of the cargo sector of Alitalia. According to Saponaro "CAI (Compagnia aerea italiana) has ceded Air France the commercial network to sell the 'Belly of the aircraft' for the transport of goods. This would involve, according to indiscretion, the dismissal of a hundred workers from Alitalia, and the acceptance of only twenty by Air France, as from 16th November. It is probable what remains of airport handling (or the entire operations of movement of goods) in Malpensa today will be moved in the middle term to Segrate to be then loaded to Paris, hub of Air France. Again, therefore, this proves to be that the Italianity of Alitalia has been only a slogan for an electoral campaign and that had we sold Alitalia to Air France during the Prodi Government, only the events would have been anticipated; the result in fact would have been the same we are facing today: an Alitalia in the hands of Air France nevertheless with a saving for the Italian taxpayers for EUR 3 billion, equivalent to the debts that Alitalia has had to force on itself. I believe it is urgent that President Formigoni and his councillors who during the negotiations period of the government Prodi with Air France were sent to Malpensa to support of the Italianity of Alitalia and against the sale to Air France, were urgently sent to the transport Commission to make a report on the further surrender of the latter, and on the initiatives taken to reach a greater liberalization in the skies and of the slot and to allow to Malpensa to recover, as quickly as possible, the traffic lost with new air companies and new services".
