Selex Galileo strengthens its presence in the Gulf region

Dubai, United Arab Emirates - With new surveillance, protection and awareness solutions

(WAPA) - Selex Galileo, part of the Finmeccanica Group, as a partner of the United Arab Emirates is taking part in a number of challenging initiatives that are currently ongoing or under development in the Gulf region. Across air, land, sea and Space, Selex Galileo works with all major platform manufacturers and large system integrators.

In particular, the company provides advanced EW (Electronic Warfare) systems for airplanes including the Eurofighter Typhoon and helicopters such as the AgustaWestland AW-101 and the Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow. The selection of Selex Galileo’s MCS Full Mission Core System on the Alenia Aermacchi M-346 advanced lead-in fighter trainer for Italy and the UAE further confirms the company’s main role in integrated avionics and mission systems.

Selex Galileo’s Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Falco will soon be engaged in a series of flight campaigns for potential customers in the Gulf region. The system is currently carrying out successful operations with an international customer, performing daily missions under the most demanding environmental conditions.

Another important area in terms of market opportunities is maritime surveillance where Selex Galileo is engaged in supporting friendly and allied nations in protecting land and coastal borders. In particular, the Airborne Tactical Observation and Surveillance (ATOS) System is inherently adaptable to suit customers specific requirements. The most recent contracts for the ATOS system include: the Italian MoD, where the ATOS will integrate the Seaspray AESA Radar; the Ecuador Navy (where ATOS will also integrate the Seaspray); and a North African country.

At the 2009 "Dubai Airshow" (from 15 to 19 November), Selex Galileo will be demonstrating a number of its core technologies and products. (Avionews)
