Ryanair charges the Italian ENAC with violating the policy on documents

Rome, Italy - The Authority accepts fishing licenses and job IDs

(WAPA) - "The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) is violating the rules on documents that are accepted everywhere", Ryanair CEO, Michael O'Leary, said today during the presentation press conference for the airline's new routes from Ciampino to Seville and Krakow.

In particular, the manager opposes the possibility that the Italian authority accepts also fishing licenses and job IDs, with which Ryanair personnel is not familiar (they only accept ID cards and passports), so they are not valid to board. "We don't understand why ENAC should do a similar thing -he added- to have an ID card or a valid passport is a matter of security, as check-in is 100% online. Furthermore, this is part of the agreement that every passenger signs when they purchase a ticket".

According to O'Leary the problem is particularly serious in Puglia region, in Bari and Brindisi, where in January and February the airline is going to open two new hubs. "If ENAC's behaviour on this matter will not change -the CEO ended- we will be forced to close them". (Avionews)
