Airbus delays A-380 delivery to Malaysia Airlines
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - The Superjumbos are scheduled to arrive in the second half of 2011
(WAPA) - Malaysia Airlines might receive its first Airbus A-380 aircraft with further eight months delay, in August 2011 rather than January 2011, as the carrier's CEO, Azmil Zahruddin, yesterday told "Dow Jones Newswires".
In an email sent to the news agency, Zahruddin stated: "We have never requested for the A-380s to be delayed; all delays have been at Airbus' request". Initially delivery was scheduled in January 2007 for six aircraft. However, even if the CEO didn't mention it, the European manufacturer had previously said it would have compensated Malaysia Airlines for the delay.
"We have agreed on a revised delivery schedule with Malaysia Airlines for the second half of 2011", an Airbus spokesman explained, without supplying further details on the new schedule and on possible delays. (Avionews)
