Flightcare workers' assembly at Rome-Fiumicino airport
Rome, Italy - Flights served by the Spanish handler suffered from some inefficiencies
(WAPA) - Flightcare workers are protesting against 85 redundancies and against the company's cost reduction policy which would only affect employees. Flightcare is a subsidiary of the Spanish group Fomento de construcciones y contratas that works as ground handler on behalf of some airlines at Rome-Fiumicino airport, such as Blue Air, Aegean, Fly Baboo and Blue Panorama.
Workers have announced to assemblies, one from 10 am to 12 pm and one from 4 to 6 pm. Tomorrow is scheduled a day of strike. According to a press release from CGIL, CISL, UIL Trasporti and UGL trade unions, the employees are protesting because "Flightcare wants to cut costs only by reducing workers' paychecks; it foresees 85 redundancies and pursues a company policy which aims to scale down rather than to relaunch itself in the market".
