Alitalia will integrate Wind Jet: operation approved
Rome, Italy - Ragnetti prefers to avoid Blue Panorama
(WAPA) - Alitalia-Cai has sealed a negotiation with Wind Jet, Antonino Pulvirenti's private airline born in 2003, which involves a two-step integration. First, Pulvirenti "Should hive off the company that is carrying around 100 million Euro debts. The company is composed by a fleet of around 20 aircraft. The value of the fragmented company should be 20-30 million Euro, a cash Alitalia is ready to pay. Then the integration could be made" quoting "Il Messaggero", an Italian newspaper.
The acquisition of Wind Jet, which was planned months ago, met the approval of all Alitalia-Cai executive board. Concerning the project related to Blue Panorama, the story is not the same. The talks with the operator was not suitable and the new MD Andrea Ragnetti preferred to finalize only the first deal.
The newspaper also adds that "The Antitrust exam will be a sensible step, since Wind Jet holds 6,3% of the share market, that raise up to 18% in Sicily on the routes between Rome and Catania, Palermo, Trapani". Sicily itself is Alitalia's main target, since the airline wants to connect the region with many Italian and European cities.
In addition, it seems Ragnetti is dealing with unclear South-American carriers for the sale of three aged MD-80 aircraft for a return of, according to press reports, 300.000 Euro. (Avionews)
