Aircraft and transport in Italy. Alitalia-SAI-Cityliner strike next Friday, July 24
Rome, Italy - Announced by Anpac from 00:01 to midnight, links to Venice and Bologna not included
(WAPA) - A 24 hour strike (from 00:01 to midnight) by pilots and flight assistants of the Alitalia Group for next Friday, July 24. The protest, confirmed by Anpac, will be at national level, not for links from and to Bologna and Venice airports. "This further strike is due to the lacking of concrete answers to the legal requests of the Cityliner colleagues who have the right, according to the contractual agreements, to obtain a correct homogenization of their pay system with that of the Alitalia colleagues and to the company refusal to make concrete the commitment to keep the employment levels of the crew at the end of SOD".
In fact in absence of a strong increase of the long range aircraft fleet, about a thousand of Alitalia pilots and flight assistants will be redundancies in 2016. All this while Alitalia continues to make to operate its flights to third airlines through wet-lease procedures, and a strong impression to a further liberation from the medium range activity.
Despite some steps forward in terms of product quality, we consider the initiatives taken still too shy for a real Alitalia carrier's relaunch, to a great generosity of intent it seems to not coincide a clear definition of the mission, according to a press release reported by "Help Consumatori".
