FAA: airworthiness directive on the 777 included also vanished Malaysia Airlines' aircraft

Washington, USA - According to Boeing the missing aircraft was not subject to the AD

On Thursday 6 March 2014 the US' Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued an airworthiness directive (number 2014-05-03), regarding Boeing's 777 aircraft. The measure, as explained by the US' agency, has been taken in order to "Detect and correct cracking and corrosion in the fuselage skin, which could lead to rapid decompression and loss of structural integrity of the airplane" (AVIONEWS).
