Drone airplanes and helicopters, paragliders and hang gliders forbidden on Mont Blanc until the end of August
Chamonix, France - French authorities stopped amateur flights to ensure safety of rescue operations by helicopters
French authorities banned amateur flights of drone airplanes and helicopters, paragliders and hang gliders on the Mont Blanc mountain. The measure will be in force until the end of August and was decided to ensure the safety of operators during rescue missions by helicopters from Chamonix (France). For infringers there is a fine of fifteen thousand euros and six months in prison. Hazardous situations increased in recent days for the growing number of excursionists who use small drones to shoot videos of the landscape, sometime even filming the activities of the helicopter rescue, endangering in such way the safety of the staff and slowing down operations. A similar measure would have been asked -but not yet obtained- also by the mountain rescue of the Aosta Valley (Italy).
