Italian unions: handling workers at national airports on strike next Tuesday
Rome, Italy - The protest for four hours (1-5pm) to respect contract
"An Italian strike next Tuesday November 21 for four hours (1-5pm) by all workers of the handling companies (baggages, passenger transport, check-in) in all national airports". The protest jointly announced by Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl, Uiltrasporti, Ugl TA unions for "the missed implementation of the national contract of the air transport sector in the handling section". Nino Cortorillo, national secretary of Filt Cgil explained that: "With the strike we protest against the decision by Assohandlers and associated companies to not have given implementation to the agreements underwritten with the renewal of the contract in December 2015 that predicted from July 1st, 2017 the recalculation of the hourly wage comprising of all (overtime, job by night and non working day)". He added that "We ask to provide to the correct payment of the increases, respecting that underwritten and when due".
