According to rumors by the American press the US Air Force and the manufacturer Boeing would be negotiating a deal for the sale of two B-747/8 aircraft -which were already built and never delivered to the now failed Russian Transaero Airlines- to change them into the new Air Force One, the airplanes on which the US presidents fly. Using already manufactured aircraft would allow to cut costs as the president Donald Trump
asked since his campaign trail, even if the necessary modifications will anyway have a strong impact on final price.
The two airplanes would be now waiting in a facility in Victorville, California. The sophisticated devices and equipments of the Air Force One -that should be ready by 2024- would need a subsequent contract between Pentagon and Boeing.
Until the day he installed at the White House Trump
used to fly on his B-757/200 airplane, bought in 2011 and equipped with every luxuries.
