Aircraft. Air taxi: tested the eVtol of Vertical Aerospace
The hypothetical final aircraft would have the pilot on board
"Flying taxis" are a sector where more and more investments are made by historical companies -like Airbus and Boeing-, of recent companies -for example Uber- and startups. One of the last fate is the British Vertical Aerospace by Stephen Fitzpatrick born from the union of six small companies operating in the electrical sector that would like to build aircraft capable of taking off and landing vertically (eVtol, Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing).
Within four years Fitzpatrick would like to use his piloted aircraft to transport people on short-haul flights among English cities, taking advantage of the configuration with a pilot on board to take advantage of the competition; it would actually be easier to overcome the regulatory and safety issues for Vertical's eVtol than unmanned aircraft. Moreover -according to the words of the same owner- for "not having to wait for the huge changes of the current regulations" the "flying taxis" will use the air corridors already used by normal traffic, but without having to use the runways of the airports since the eVtol of Vertical could land and take off anywhere.
An unmanned prototype has already flown to a Gloucestershire airport after obtaining permission from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), while for the piloted version of the fixed wing aircraft it will be necessary to wait a few years to arrive with all the certifications required in 2022.
