Congo: an Antonov An-26 airplane crashes
Unknown the number of people on board
Shortly after delivering material for the upcoming elections inthe Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), an Antonov An-26 aircraft -registration 9S-AGB- of the Gomair airline crashed, allegedly killing all the people on board even if the number of these was not made public and the amounts between 6 and 23. What is certain that there are 3 Russian pilots in the aircraft and this is the only sure fact of the accident, also because it comes from the Russian embassy in Kinshasa. The Antonov took off from Tshikapa in the direction of the capital of the DRC but about 40 km from Kinshasa the air traffic controllers have lost the radar contact with the aircraft, alerting rescuers who have moved to locate the wreck and verify if there are survivors to be transported to the hospital. The carrier Gomair since 2006, as well as all those of the Congo, is in the black list of the European Union that forbids the companies included to operate in the EU airspace because it do not meet the necessary safety requirements.
