Fincantieri. Bono: "Alliance with France is strategic for the future"
Today the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti BoD decides on the appointment of the management
Yesterday the CEO of Fincantieri Giuseppe Bono was heard in audition by the Defense Committee of the Senate, where he explained that the alliance with the French is the result of "a work already done in the joint programs of the class Horizon and the Fremm" and has stressed that "it is fundamental to collaborate in the military field because we are competing with the whole world being the best for product quality and prices". These industrial and shipbuilding capacities of Italy and France, if united according to Bono "will allow us to be the first in the world, even surpassing the Americans". On the United States, Bono wanted to emphasize the fact that "their shipyards are at least twenty years behind us, which are smaller and technologically more advanced". This is a theme on which the Government should put pressure on the European Union, above all because the alliance between Fincantieri and Naval Group will allow the creation of an European military macro-company that will guarantee the possibility of continuing to be considered on a global scale; in the same way as the acquisition of STX by the Italian company to set up a jv in civil shipbuilding blocked for further investigation by the European antitrust authority.
On the government table, however, at the moment there is more interest in the future management of Fincantieri, even if the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CdP) scheduled for today March 6 should confirm Giuseppe Bono as CEO and Giampiero Massolo as president.
