Airplane and transport. Risk of strike in Spain
Trade union agitation scheduled for 20 April
Two of the main Spanish trade unions -the Unión Sindical Obrera (USO) and the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT)- could soon organize a strike for airport employees, who would cross their arms starting on Holy Saturday. This could cause many inconveniences for the approximately 5 million people who will reach Spain on the Easter week-end; the unions are negotiating to find a solution to the contractual dispute so as to avert the strike. The request made by about 60,000 employees is to have changes to the clauses of collective agreements.
If no agreement is found between USO, UGT and Aseata -the Group representing all companies in the ground assistance sector- from Saturday April 20 there could be a series of black days for air transport in Spain, also because the threat is to prolong the abstention from work until this diatribe is closed.
