Yemen, Saudi forces block attack against Abha airport
Houthi rebels have launched 5 drone aircraft
The Saudi-led military coalition in Yemen reports it has blocked 5 drone aircraft launched by Houthi rebels against Abha airport. "The air defense force and the Saudi Royal Air Force have successfully intercepted and destroyed five unmanned aircraft launched by the Houthi militia to Abha and Khamis Mushait international airport", declared a statement released to the official Saudi agency.
The attack was confirmed by rebel sources, who reported having carried out several raids with Qasef-2K drones on Abha airport, forcing air traffic to stop. Two days ago the rebels successfully brought another attack with a cruise missile that hit the arrivals hall and the control tower (see AVIONEWS), to which Riyadh responded with a series of air raids on Sana'a and areas around the capital.
