Russia will supply 10 MC-21 aircraft to Malaysia

Non-binding agreement but high interest

According to "Tass" Russia and Malaysia have signed a contract for the supply of ten MC-21 aircraft currently being prepared for mass production.
Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said that these are non-binding agreements without strict obligations. And he added: "We expect that once the airplane certification tests have been successfully completed and also having obtained a European certificate, this will give a strong boost to promotion on the international market. The interest is already high".

The Irkut MC-21 is a short-range, medium-haul narrow-body aircraft, twin-wing, low-wing plane, being developed and manufactured by the Russian aviation companies Irkut and Yakovlev of United Aircraft Corporation. It aims to replace the old models of Tupolev Tu-154 and Tu-204/214 in Russian aeronautical production.
