China: test completed for the mission to Mars
Beijing and the ambition to become a benchmark in the space sector
Today, China has completed the lander test that will be used for a 2020 Mars mission. The trials were successfully held in Huailai, Hebei Province northwest of Beijing.
Zhang Rongqiao, chief architect of the "Red Planet" exploration program said that the journey in space will take about seven months.
Beijing made its first lunar landing in 2013 and plans to complete the space station by 2022. In 2003, China became the third Nation to launch a man in space with his own means after the former Soviet Union and the United States with which has the ambition to compete to become one of the greatest space powers by 2030.
