Alitalia: today meeting between Commissioners and Italian Minister
The Lufthansa solution is among the most accredited hypotheses
While the sand of the Alitalia hourglass continues to fall, there are several solutions that the Government is studying for the former Italian national airline. One of these concerns Lufthansa: the German carrier had announced that it had no interest in taking over the air company unless there was a major renovation with about 4,000 redundancies (see AVIONEWS). If this option is chosen, the employees would be partially relocated by the State to a firm created specifically through social safety nets. In this way Alitalia would become a "Newco" headed by a new commissioner with full powers.
Hypothesis that could be increasingly probable because Atlantia is exit from the group (see AVIONEWS) and Delta doesn't give regarding long-range economic returns.
Yesterday there was conference call with the Alitalia commissioners in view of today's summit with the Minister of Economic Development Stefano Patuanelli.
