Alitalia. AVIONEWS meets unions at the Italian MISE: do you start over?

Soon the EUR 400 million, a brief meeting with Delta and final farewell to Atlantia

AVIONEWS awaited the union representatives at the exit of the MISE (Italian Ministry of Economic Development) after the meeting with the Minister Stefano Patuanelli and the new commissioner of Alitalia Giuseppe Leogrande. According to the meeting, Delta requested an interview with Patuanelli and that the EUR 400 million will soon arrive to allow the survival of the Italian carrier.

Fabrizio Cuscito, national secretary FILT-CGIL, has made it known that for the dicastery the cost of labor is not the problem of the company. The union reiterated that  the presence of the State is necessary for the relaunch of the airline.

Antonio Amoroso, national secretary of CUB Trasporti stated  to expect greater clarity compared to the hypotheses in the field relating to the future of Alitalia: the only certainty is the final exit of Atlantia. He stated that Leogrande shared the goal of maintaining corporate integrity, but he would also have said he would have to guarantee creditor rights. For Amoroso the subtext of these declarations would confirm the stew and perhaps the redundancies. He also added that the Minister last met with Lufthansa, thus denying rumors of confrontations between some senators and possible candidates for Alitalia's entry. For the trade unionist the perplexities regarding the transparency of the real conditions of the carrier are noteworthy: it would be two years that the air company would not have made known its economical financial statements.

Location other than that assumed by Ivan Viglietti national secretary of Uiltrasporti, according to him the new commissioner would have denied the theory of stew and several statements by the press.

Ugl National Secretary Francesco Alfonsi has shed light on the need to unite as soon as possible a table with all the industrial, institutional, corporate, trade union and regulatory stakeholders for a recovery plan to be developed in synergy.
