"Guardian" is a radar which uses antennas and microphones to locate air traffic sounds with extreme precision. So, a passive radar, same way of the sea acoustic detectors. No more a direct emission from the antenna which 'Hits' the object and than came back to the source. The system, already tested and used in Rome-Fiumicino airport, has been realized by CIRA (Italian Aerospace Research Centre)...
