Blue Origin: Jeff Bezos announces more investments
The aerospace company alone will receive over 1 billion in 2019
During the "Wired25" conference held in San Francisco from October 12th to 16th, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced that from next year he will invest more than a billion dollars in his Blue Origin aerospace company created in 2000. The richest man in the world will continue to increase the investment in the years to come, so as to allow the company to compete with SpaceX of Elon Musk and with Virgin Galactic of Richard Branson, who will also use the airport of Taranto-Grottaglie for sub-orbital flights of his aircraft that should start "weeks and not months". Blue Origin, in addition to the so-called space tourism, also deals with the development of launchers necessary to transport satellites in orbit, but it is above all in the field of motors where it has obtained the greatest successes. The last of these dates back to September 2018 when United Launch Alliance -jv between Boeing and Lockheed Martin- announced that it had chosen the Blue Origin BE-4 rocket engine to power the first stage of the new Vulcan carrier; choice that will allow the United States to replace the engines produced in Russia.
