MC-21: airplane will receive certifications in 2020

Composite materials will remain, but it will be Russian

According to what said -at "Rossiya-24"- the President of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Yuri Slyusar, the Irkut MC-21 passenger plane should be certified to fly by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by 2020, once the tests currently being carried out on the airplanes will be completed. Moreover, in order to "circumvent" the economic sanctions imposed by the United States, the president of UAC also explained that the American and Japanese composite materials will be replaced with other products directly in Russia so as not to cause delays in assembling the MC-21. Once the on-board certifications are obtained, the MC-21 will start to be commercialized, and the Russian government will try to sponsor the aircraft produced by its national aerospace industry in "friendly" countries, even if the gap with Airbus and Boeing seems unbridgeable.
