Wow Air: new failure for an European carrier
Flight operations ended today
The restructuring and rescue plan for Wow Air was a failure: this morning, with a notice on the site, the company announced that it had ceased all flight operations, also cancelling all the flights scheduled in the coming days. A new bankruptcy for an European airline in the last 2 years and which follows the failure of the negotiations first with the US Indigo Partners fund and then with the historic rival Icelandair, which will probably now consider whether to detect what remains of Wow Air's fleet and employed.
To be "paradoxical" is that it was a low-cost to fail. At the origin there could be the fact that the increase in the demand for flights has caused an unsustainable growth in the size of carriers, and when the cost of fuel has increased these have no longer been able to operate in surplus in order not to lose the "philosophy" of low-cost rates. The "minor" airlines were the main sufferers of this increase in costs, as well as those who, like Wow Air, built their fortunes on intercontinental connections.
