Jet Airways: all international flights temporarily cancelled

Aircraft fleet reduced by almost 80%

The number of Jet Airways aircraft that are grounded by leasing companies continues to increase, so much so that the size of the fleet has been reduced by 80% and should be below the 20 usable planes. The heavily indebted airline company had to cancel all the long-haul connections of the day today, in a decision taken while the deadline set by the State Bank of India (SBI) to present expressions of interest to detect the majority of shares of Jet Airways.

According to the local press, however, SBI should have received at least 4 interests, but the problem is that by continuing to ground the planes there may not be time to present the actual offers for the airline, which risks more and more than having to stop all operations, under the weight of the 1.2 billion dollars of debts accumulated over the years. Not only are leasing companies, however, making their creditor power felt, as some fuel suppliers have also begun to ask for more restrictive conditions for refueling aircraft at airports.
