Official opening in early September
First operational test with passengers for the Beijing-Daxing airport, which will be officially opened in September. China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Air China and Xiamen Airlines made available for the test their top models, the A-380, the A-350/900, the B-747-8 and the B-787-9. "The test shows that the new airport has now shifted the focus from the infrastructure construction phase to operational testing", Wan Xiangdong, chief pilot of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, declared it.
The test follows the first flight of check of the airplanes made on the airport last January 22. The infrastructure is expected to be able to handle 45 million passengers a year by 2021 and 72 millions by 2025.
