Russia: the Spektr-RG telescope launched
X-ray images to study the universe - VIDEO
The new telescope was successfully launched last Saturday, July 13 at 2.31 pm Italian time, with a "Proton-M" rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhistan into the orbit.
"Spektr-RG" will have the ambitious task of finding up to three million new supermassive black holes, drawing a map of the evolution of the universe and helping to understand the characteristics of the "dark matter". The telescope was developed by the Russian space agency Roscosmos in collaboration with Germany inspired by the Hubble telescope. For 7 years it will study the universe by providing extremely detailed X-ray images that will allow it to provide important scientific information with unprecedented detail.
