Alitalia: entry of Lufthansa and knots to be dissolved
The expiration date is approaching and Fs asks for clarifications
After Lufthansa's proposal of a commercial partnership in Alitalia, FS (Ferrovie dello Stato), also in agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development, asked the German company for more information. It is a matter of understanding whether the German air carrier intends or not to invest economically for the re-launch of the Italian flag carrier or if it wants to propose the same model of Delta Air Lines that would not seem particularly concerned about the entry into the field of the Frankfurt company: while the American carrier will make an investment of around 100 million euros and intends to take over 10% of the "newco", the Germans have limited themselves to offering a commercial agreement without a participation.
The arrival of Lufthansa is however viewed favorably, even if only under certain conditions, also by the Uiltrasporti national secretary Ivan Viglietti who declared in an interview with AVIONEWS: "Lufthansa is a leading player, it has skills and economic power, but if it was hypothesized that its intervention for Alitalia, the Italian company cannot be reduced to being a regional carrier, but must have its dignity in respect of the workers and the country".
There are very few days until October 15th, the deadline for the presentation of the binding offer and it is feared that in view of the fact that the knots to be resolved are still too many, the deadline that the Minister of Economic Development Stefano Patuanelli had indicated will not be respected as urgent. "I know they are working to meet the date", he said yesterday on October 10.
