Chinese airport industry exponential growth

Quantitative increase and qualitative improvement

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has reported steady growth over the past 10 years in the Chinese civil airport industry.

Zhang Rui, an official of the Chinese administration said: "The construction of airports has seen an increase in quantity and an improvement in quality over the last decade".

The number of the airfields increased from 158 to 238, including the Beijing-Daxing international airport (see AVIONEWS) the Kunming Changshui in addition to the Satellite Hall of the Shanghai-Pudong one. The annual number of travellers has increased by more than three times and the volume of cargo transport has doubled.

It is the reference authority for civil aviation of the Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China. It investigates aircraft accidents and incidents, has agreements with other aviation authorities and is based in the Dongcheng district of Beijing.
