Turkey: S-400 confirmed in Parliament

The leader Erdogan says he does not want to give up the Defense

President Tayyip Erdogan confirmed today in Parliament to members of his "AKP" (Justice and Development Party), to let US President Donald Trump know during last week's Washington meeting that Turkey would not the intention to renounce the Russian S-400 missile defense systems purchased this year despite the NATO protests (see AVIONEWS).

Cooperation and joint production with Russia are going on (see AVIONEWS).

Erdogan and Trump had a meeting at the White House (see AVIONEWS) to overcome the problems that arose especially for the Syrian issue (see AVIONEWS).

The United States has repeatedly reiterated that the S-400s pose a threat to its F-35 stealth fighter aircraft and suspended Turkey from the program where it is a buyer and co-producer threatening sanctions that have not been imposed yet.
