China launches hyperspectral satellite for Earth observation

China launched a new Earth observation satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center at 11:01 am today Tuesday, September 7, 2021 (Beijing time). To be precise, Gaofen-5 02, a hyperspectral satellite that will have the task of monitoring the state of the atmosphere, water and soil, was sent aboard the Long March-4C vector. The satellite entered orbit successfully.
Today is the 387th mission of the Long March family rocket. A technology, like the Gaofen satellite, developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology under the auspices of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. Gaofen is a series of high-resolution Earth observation satellites developed under the government's China High-resolution Earth Observation System (Cheos) program. The first in the series, Gaofen 1, was launched in 2013.
