North Korea: Seoul denounces another missile test

Kim Jong Un intensifiec testing. US-South Korean intelligences at work - VIDEO

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan on Wednesday. The tension is growing between the two countries. Just two days ago, Pyongyang tested a new long-range cruise rocket.

According to the South Korean "Yonhap" news agency, quoting military sources, the two missiles were fired from the Yangdok district at 12:34 and 12:39 and flew around 800 kilometers at a maximum altitude of around 60 km. The type of rockets is still unidentified. JCS said South Korean and US intelligences are working jointly.

"While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to US personnel or territory, or to our allies, the missile launch highlights the destabilizing impact of the DPRK's illicit weapons program", the US Indo-Pacific Command (Usindopacom) said in a statement.

According to the government of Japan the ballistic missiles did not violate the Japan Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) that is 200 nautical miles from the Tokyo coast. On Monday, Pyongyang launched two more new rockets capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

The resumption of missile tests by North Korea, after the historic thawing with the United States in 2018 and the meeting with President Trump, worries neighboring countries and the International community. Also because according to the United Nations, Kim Jong-Un would have reactivate the nuclear site of Yongbyon, despite the UN Security Council prohibits the country from testing ballistic and nuclear rockets.
