Australia: six Bell 214B helicopters arrived from Greece
Transported aboard AN-124 aircraft
The cargo transport specialist Chapman Freeborn and Russian air carrier Volga-Dnepr Airlines have teamed up with aircraft manufacturer McDermott Aviation to transport six Bell 214B helicopters -built for emergency missions- from Greece to Australia by AN-124 aircraft.
The 35-ton super cargo took off from Athens airport and landed at Perth. This is an unusual event for such a delivery. In fact, usually aircraft exports take place within the terminal-goods. However, the versatility of the equipment, a team of 24 engineers and workers and the close coordination with the airport operators allowed the operation to be completed successfully.
The Bell 214B BigLifter is a multi-role, medium-light helicopter of American and Canadian production. It is a variant of the Bell UH-1 Iroquois, built specifically for rescue and emergency missions.
