For days the city of Irpin, located in the Kiev oblast, has been subjected to continuous aerial bombardments that are reducing the urban area to rubble. It is a strategic site located along the road to the capital and that the Russian Army aims to conquer. To block the advance by Moscow's military vehicles the Ukrainian Army decided yesterday to blow up some bridges. 

For this reason the shooting down of a Russian Sukhoi SU-30 multirole fighter flying over the skies of Irpin by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense systems has a symbolic meaning. The news was given by the commander of the Kiev Army, Lieutenant General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who used social networks to let the world know that Ukrainians are resisting. Meanwhile, the yellow-blue armed forces have liberated Makariv, a suburb in the capital region.
