Russia-Ukraine: Moscow uses hypersonic missiles

Kremlin confirmation; for the U.S. this weapon will not change the conflict

Russia confirmed the use of hypersonic missiles in the bombing of Ukraine in the last hours. These are the Russian-made Kinzhal ballistic rockets, developed since 2010 and entered into service in experimental form in 2018 as part of Moscow's aerospace forces.

Harsh retort of US President Joe Biden: "With the same warheads used on the other missiles do not make much difference, except for the fact that it is almost impossible to intercept them", reports the American television station "CNN"; of the same opinion the intelligence of the United Kingdom.

"Attacks with this system of air-to-ground missiles against Ukrainian military infrastructure will continue during the special military operation", said the spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, pointing out that twice in recent days they have resorted to this type of missiles capable of evading enemy anti-missile defense systems.

The Russian Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic rocket was successfully tested for the first time in 2018. It is capable of reaching a speed of up to Mach 10 and targets located at a distance of up to 1000-2000 km when launched from fixed positions, but it can also be fired from military aircraft, particularly Mig-31 fighters.
