Ukrainian conflict: today's balance sheet

Moscow besieges Mariupol to connect Crimea and Donbass

Nearly a month into the armed conflict, the Russian army's advance has stalled, while resistance from the Ukrainian armed forces continues. Kiev's air force and defense systems are barely repelling the increasing number of Russian air attacks.

Meanwhile, the government in Kiev has issued the daily bulletin: in the last 24 hours 6 military planes, 5 drones, a helicopter and 5 cruise missiles have been hit and neutralized. Moreover, the Ukrainian prosecutor stated that 121 children have been killed since the beginning of the conflict, while 548 educational facilities have been bombed, 72 of which have been completely destroyed.

Moscow's siege is particularly intense on the capital and the port city of Mariupol, on the Azov Sea coast. It is a strategic location, whose conquest would allow the Kremlin to create a corridor between Crimea and Donbass, territories already under its control. At least 100 thousand people would be trapped in Mariupol and for this reason it has been decided to establish nine humanitarian corridors.
