Russia extends closure of 11 airports

Stops until May 7 due to war in Ukraine

The Federal Agency for Air Transport of Russia (Rosaviatsia) has extended until May 7 the closure of 11 airports located in the central and southern part of the country. These airports have been closed since February 24 and their reopening has been postponed for the 11th time. A decision taken after the beginning of the war in Ukraine. 

"Connections to the airports of Anapa, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Gelendzhik, Krasnodar, Kursk, Lipetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Simferopol and Elista are temporarily suspended. Russian airlines are recommended to arrange transportation of passengers on alternative routes using the airports of Sochi, Volgograd, Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol and Moscow", Rosaviatsia agency writes.

"The other airports of the Russian Federation -the regulators say- operate normally. All changes in the schedules of airports and airlines should be clarified on the official websites of airports and airlines".
