Russia: test flights for May 9 air parade

Military planes over the skies of Moscow for the Victory Day against Nazism

The Russian Federal Agency for Air Transport (Favt) has announced the closure of the airspace over Moscow on May 4 and 7 (with reserve options for May 5 and 6) from 9:40am to 11:20am. The purpose is to allow the conduct of training tests of air force aircraft in preparation for the Victory Parade to be held on May 9.

The restrictions will impact the operation of international airports in the Moscow area. This is the preparation for the commemorations of the 77th anniversary of Victory Day in World War II. At the event should participate, Rosaviatsiya reports, 77 military aircraft. Aircraft parades are planned, in addition to Moscow, in various cities: St. Petersburg, Murmansk, Kaliningrad and Khabarovsk.
