Fincantieri: a new era begins

Today ratifies top management and appoints new board of directors

Today is the day when a new era begins at the Fincantieri Group. A meeting is being held in Rome that is to ratify the appointments of the new chairman, General Claudio Graziano, current chairman of the Military Committee of the European Union, and the new CEO, Pierroberto Folgiero, who until recently held the same position at the Italian plant engineering group Maire Tecnimont.

Also on the agenda are nominations for the new board of directors. The list of suitables has been compiled by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti. They include current Illycaffè CEO Cristina Scocchia, Trieste-based insurance manager Valter Trevisani, Bocconi University associate professor and financial advisor Alberto Dell'Acqua, Legal Advisor Alessandra Battaglia, Ddp Business Unit Director Massimo Di Carlo, Cdp Head of Coverage Financial Institutions Esedra Chiacchella, and Head of Business Development Corporate at Cdp Rosanna Rossi.

A strategic and industrial change of direction is expected compared to the previous management that saw CEO Giuseppe Bono at the helm for 20 years, flanked since 2016 by the chairman, Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, who moved to Atlantia with the same position. What remains is the clear and precise direction regarding the importance of the military sector in the years to come. The shipbuilding group, in fact, has for years been developing an industrial strategy on the double track: large commercial ships on the one hand, military on the other.
